Half Elf

Half-Elves walk a delicate line, inheriting the blessings of both their human and elven lineage while grappling with a sense of not truly belonging. They blend the inquisitiveness, ingenuity, and drive of humans with the heightened senses, appreciation for nature, and artistic inclinations of elves.

Half Elf Traits

As a Half Elf, you have these special traits.

Mixed Ancestry

As a Half-Elf, you combine both the traits of Humans and Elves, each Half Elf is unique in its own way.

You may choose traits from the Elf Traits and Human Traits lists below. Each trait has a point value (shown in parentheses), and the total points from your chosen traits cannot exceed 7.

Elf Traits

The following are traits from the Elf species.

Darkvision (1)

You have Darkvision with a range of 60 feet.

Fey Ancestry (1)

You gain the following benefits.

Charmed Resistance You have Advantage on saving throws you make to avoid or end the Charmed condition.

Trance You don't need to sleep, and magic can't put you to sleep. You can finish a Long Rest in 4 hours if you spend those hours in a trancelike meditation, during which you retain consciousness.

Keen Senses (1)

You have proficiency in the Insight, Perception, or Survival skill.

Elven Lineage (4)

Choose a lineage from the Elven Lineages table to gain its level 1 benefit. At levels 3 and 5, you learn higher-level spells from the table, which are always prepared. You can cast each spell once per Long Rest without a slot or using spell slots. Choose Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma as your spellcasting ability for these spells.

Human Traits

The following are traits from the Human species.

Resourceful (2)

You gain Heroic Inspiration whenever you finish a Long Rest.

Skillful (1)

You gain proficiency in one skill of your choice.

Versatile (4)

You gain an Origin feat of your choice.
